A YEAR IN REVIEW

So, almost a year later I am FINALLY posting something! Our lives have dramatically changed and there is NOT enough time in the day to sleep much less blog! I will give you a quick review of what has happened in the past ten months of our lives month by month, if my memory can recall!
July- Wanted to go to the beach as we do every year for the fourth, but my mom would not allow it because I was to be induced July 9. I really didn't see and still don't what the big deal was, it was just a baby. I mean people have babies in Destin too. So, if I had had her there she would have a great story tell and a great birth place. However, I had no such luck with making the trip and to this day CB says to her sister "because of you we didn't get to go to the beach last year"! Oh, let the sisterly love begin! I really wanted MK to come on July 7, so her birthday could be a double digit like her sis (9/9), Aunt Jenny (5/5) and mine (6/6)...........no such luck on that either. The day finally came and Jas and I had to be at the hospital by 6:30 a.m. for the induction. We went and registered and at admission they informed of that if we paid in full that day for the hospital stay we would receive a 30% discount! That's right folks we got her on sale! So, by 7:15 a.m. they put us in a room and tell us that it will be about 30 mins to an hour because they are out of pitocin and that the pharmacy is sending more over. Not quite sure but didn't you schedule me? You knew I was coming so why isn't already here! Can you tell I am ready for the pregnancy to be over? Finally, around 8:00 a.m. Hope (my L&D nurse) comes in and pokes me with the worst part of labor the dang IV and says "You should get started feeling contractions now and let me know when you are ready for your epidural". So by 9:30 a.m. I am ready, I tell Hope she puts it in with the anesthesiologist and comes back and says it is going to be about 30 mins to an hour because the anesthesiologist is in a c-section. Again, folks you scheduled me! However, she says "but I can give you something to knock you out"! Yep, sounds good to me bring it on! I pass out and all is good until the anesthesiologist comes in and says " sit up, don't move, take a deep breath", o.k. lady Hope gave me some good medicine and I CAN'T sit up straight! Finally she gets the epidural going and I pass out again. Dr. McGowan, the best doctor in the world, comes in to check me (remember I am passed out) and then I think that I am dreaming because she is out in the hall yelling "HOPE, HURRY COME NOW WE ARE HAVING A BABY"! The next thing I know they are ripping my comfy bed apart and moving stuff around and saying "push, push"! What? I am having a really good sleep and I am not ready! So, the next thing I know I have pushed literally three times (from what Jason tells me) and they are handing me a little baby girl at 12:36 p.m. It was GREAT! I highly recommend the knock out drug! By 1:00 they (Jas, MK, nurses and Dr.) all leave!

That's right they abandoned me and I can't get up to get to the phone to call anybody, since Jas and I were the only ones there. So, finally Hope comes back in and says "Miss Molli Kate is a big girl she weighs 7lbs and 14 oz" (7 lbs14 oz that's not big mind you Calli Beth was 9 lbs 3 oz). I ask Hope to get me my phone and I call my parents. My dad answers and I say "she's here" to which he replies "who's there" me "Really Dad? Molli Kate! Now, I really need a Dr. Pepper and a baked potato with cheese and chicken nuggets from Wendy's"

TOO BAD THE NEW HAS WORN OFF!

Then when Molli Kate was two weeks we loaded up for her first car ride! We went two and a half hours north west to the BIG town of Oscar, Kentucky for the Cooper Family reunion! It is so different with a second child! I would have never taken Calli Beth around all of those people at two weeks! She survived and Calli can tell about the just born baby calf!

Nanny and Granddaddy with all of Nanny's brothers, sister-in-laws, one sister and brother-in-law! They were worse than getting a bunch of kids together! They never looked at the right camera at the right time, nor did they all smile at the same time!

Rachel and CB heading to the dairy barn!

Seeing the new baby calf!

August- Was another BIG month around here! Calli Beth started school! It was NOT so good the first few weeks! She is going to Brown's Chapel Elementary preschool. She is one of three typical peer models in the special education classroom. Her teacher is Mrs. Mapes and her educational assistants are Mrs. Channon and Mrs. Kendal. On the first day I was all prepared for the tears and screaming, but it never came which actually upset me! However, the next day there were tears and running after mommy. Then two weeks later there were still tears and screaming!
I also started back to work at the end of August. Which was good for me because I am a horrible stay-at-home mom! For Molli Kate it is probably even better because she gets to go to Gam'ma's and be held more than she does at home and there is NO sister there to pick, throw, or torture her!

September- No screaming and crying about going to school! She just didn't like school because she had to take a nap and at "Gam'ma's house I don't have to take a nap, she lets me do what I want" to which I reply "yes Gam'ma does let you do what you want, that is why you are going to school!!!" Calli Beth also turned four on the 9th and had a Hello Kitty birthday at school and a "purple" birthday in Bolivar and a party at Red Robin's for the 'Boro folks.
MK is adjusting well to life as a little sister, meaning she is learning how to be tough because her sister is NOT learning what easy and be careful mean!

October- Let the tailgating begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We go and tailgate in Walnut Grove for all MTSU home football games! This year we actually had to go to the games as CB's dance teacher, Miss Rachel, is on the dance team.

Not so sure about this guys!(Actually, think this pic was taken the last week of Sept)

Still not so sure about this! (this was taken the last week of Oct)

DISNEY WORLD!!!!! MK headed to Bolivar for the week and Jas and I took CB to the University of Florida in Gainesville and Disney for her fourth birthday. We went in October over fall break and man was it hot! 102 with heat index on most days. I will post pics to Disney separate because there are so many.

HALLOWEEN..........CB drove her princess car around the neighborhood with Jason and Gam'ma and MK and I handed out the candy. As we had the best end of the deal because it was cold outside this year! Next year I am going to get warm outfits for Halloween, that way it will be HOT!

November- My Uncle Mark turned 50 and we wrote a little poem for him:

Uncle Mark – a little poem as you reach the half-century mark:

I hope now as you get to be fifty,

That you won’t stick any rocks in your nose,

And that you can still see well enough

To plant your corn in straight rows.

Remember back in the day,

When you tried to sell frogs and take trees that were new.

The family is taking bets

On which will go first – you or old Blue.

And when you would run from Doc Barham, down the hall,

I hope at your old age you can still blow a duck call.

After raising you and keeping you in line,

It’s a wonder Nanny is turning 80 in 2009.

But putting all jokes to rest

We couldn’t have a better uncle – You truly are the BEST!

And especially from your great-nieces

Uncle Mark – We love you to pieces.

My Nanny turned 80! So, as always the whole Pettigrew side of the family headed to Gatlinburg! CB loves going to Gatlinburg every year with the whole crew and I am so glad that she will have the memories of being able to go with her great grandparents!

Then of course we had Thanksgiving at Janie's and Nanny's house! I love the fact that even though Nanny is 80 she still cooks everything! Do NOT dare to bring stuff to eat to her house or think that you will get into her kitchen to help cook!

December- What else is there than Christmas?????????????

Pre-school Christmas pajama party

Christmas dance preview

How Santa pictures started

How Santa pictures ended!

January- We had SNOW and a BUNCH of snow for us! We were able to use 5 of our 13 built-in inclement weather days! WOO HOO!

February- Valentine's and on the 21st CB got her second set of facial stitches! She was running in the house, which I had just gotten on to her about the day before and made her cry! Well, she really listened! Four stitches and a MRI later the next day she was yet again running in the house! Oh well, at least we have a GREAT plastic surgeon that knows her by name!

March- First school field trip, Josh's wedding, and SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!! We loaded up and headed to the Mid-West, IOWA, that is! I know some of you are asking your self, Iowa for spring break? I know I know not the warmest tropical of place to spend your spring break right? Jason's whole side of the family lives in the flattest, coldest part of the United States! OK, maybe not the coldest, but to a southern it is COLD there in March! It was also the best time to be there UNI (University of Northern Iowa) knocked off the number one seeded Kansas to advance to the sweet sixteen! Both of Jason's parents, an aunt, an uncle and cousins graduated from UNI. So, we made a trip to campus and stocked up on UNI gear. Leaving Iowa we stopped in St. Louis and at our hotel was packed with the University of Tennessee, remember I am not a UT fan and we had booked this hotel several weeks before our trip and the sweet sixteen was still to be determined. However, Jason and I were in the lobby and the ONLY basketball player that we happen to run into was Wayne Chism, who graduated from the same high school as I did and my little brother attend Bolivar the same time as Wayne. So, we start talking and he thinks that we are UT fans and I didn't have the heart to tell him that the Memphis Tigers are my basketball team! However, I did cheer for him, and only him during the tournament.

Eating lunch after the field trip to the Cannon County Playhouse to see "Seussical the Musical"

Hanging with Karys and Owen at school

Grandma Dirk's, MK, CB, Grandma and Daddy

Nicole, Macy, and CB playing in Macy's room

Yep, this cousin Tade is three days younger than MK!

Oh the jump house! The reason Iowa is so much fun!!!!

Me with Wayne in St. Louis! I am standing on a chair and he is still taller!

April- Was pretty uneventful! Thankfully! CB had a book signing for her artwork that was published in "Handprints on My Heart". We did go to Lucky Ladd Farms in Eagleville! Which, I highly recommend. I also helped with a bridal shower in Nashville for my college roommate, Megan! Jason had the worst stomach virus on the 30th which will also come into play in May!

CB feeding the Llama

MK petting the goats

Gam'ma going down the slide

So this is not a good pic of me, but a GREAT one of CB

May- Oh, May you have only been around for eight days now and how eventful you have been! On the first we were to attend the Jimmy Buffett concert (Jas still wasn't feeling well but still wanted to go to see CB at her first concert). As our daughter knows all of his songs, yes all of them even the one that lyrics are close the version we taught her "why don't we get lunch at school"! However, God had other plans for a lot of people that night! Jason was in Nashville during the day for his CPA class and I kept texting him to come home because it was raining really hard and the roads were starting to flood. He thought that I was over reacting, like I always do in bad rainy weather, replied " are you serious" , "yes, I am serious all the roads are flooded let me call and book you a hotel" . Then I get this reply " I am NOT staying around here, I am coming home" to which I reply "how? I24 is closed, I40 west of Nashville is closed, M'Boro road is closed, and I65 is closed"! So, with me sitting at the computer looking at the TDOT current traffic map we navigate him around to I40 east of Nashville over to Lebanon to 840 back to Murfreesboro! Then it rained and rained and rained and rained! I can not honestly make anyone understand how much it rained! I know that you can look at pictures but unless you were here and watching it unfold on live television and watching it out your window, you will never understand the amount of rain that middle Tennessee received! So, needless to say we were not able to make the Buffett concert and we have over $300 worth of useless tickets to look at! However, we did not have flooding in our house and all of my family is safe so that in its self is worth losing $300! Mom and Dad were stuck here until Monday as all the roads (interstates and back roads) were closed on Sunday as it continued to rain and rain and rain! Since, all of us were lucky enough to be in close quarters with Jason my mom, Jenny, Seth, and I have all had the wonderful stomach virus! On the bright side I lost 8 lbs in two days but would much rather just be fat than to have that diet plan again!
